    I have to say, that prose style seems perfectly natural to me. It reminds me that when some friends took me with them to Colonial Williamsburg several years ago, and we attended a gathering in the Governor’s mansion, when he (the actor or docent playing the Governor) asked me in character where I had come from, I (in jeans and sneakers), without thinking, curtseyed and said “Sir, I am but lately come from London”.
