In a new study published in the Journal of Urban Health, researchers examined the reciprocal county-level relationship between the number of concealed carry weapon licenses issued and gun homicides in 11 states between 2010 and 2019."
This study takes a close look at the back-and-forth relationship between concealed carry licensing and homicides over a relatively long period of time," said Daniel Semenza, director of interpersonal research of the New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center and co-author of the study."
We found no evidence that homicides are reduced where there are more concealed carry licenses
," said Semenza. "On the contrary, we found that more concealed carry permits issued in a given county are linked to a greater number of homicides in that county the following year."

Well, I thought I’d fill in for the gun-lover Republican conservatives, libertarians, and armed nationalist Christians who never show up here …. cowards …. and point out that when Home Depot and Lowes put hammers on sale, there follows a spate of murders by hammer in which heads are bashed in willy-nilly. Before the buyers even leave the store. Right!
When SUVs fly off the car dealer lots, pedestrians for months afterwards are deliberately run over at intersections, why, even while walking on the sidewalks.
Butcher knives. Watch out! Here come the stabbings. In restaurants. Cooking schools become abattoirs.
Flagpoles. As 1/6 illustrated, you get enough flagpoles into the hands of enough insurrectionists in one place, and a whole lot of innocent are going to get beaten to a pulp with them.
Rope. It flies off the shelves and then, by God, let the lynchings begin!
All of these objects are just the same as firearms. Things happen. There’s nothing to be done about it, according to the right-wing gun-sucking “narrative”. You don’t see anyone trying to ban those objects because of the loss of human life, do ya? Hanh?
The Founders would have looked askance at banning all of those objects. Let freedom ring. Let freedom kill.

What did we expect?
The conservative movement and the Supreme Court and the gun manufacturers have armed every urban gangbanger. They are accessories to mass murder. They’ve supplied every weapon used to murder law enforcement officers.

Cept this, none of those objects above were invented or designed to carry out murders and mayhem. Sure, things (off-label use) happen occasionally. In the case of flagpoles and SUVs, it was conservative movement effs wielding them as weapons.

As the inventor and designer of the AR-15 said, it’s only firearms that were expressly designed and sold to kill human beings. All else is off-label use. Including hunting animals.
You don’t see anyone running up a flag on a firearm, or driving one down to the school to run over little kids, or hammering nails with one, or making a slipknot with one, or carving a turkey with one.
There is only one legitimate use for a firearm. To kill a human being.
