The Future

8 weeks from now, I promise (to myself, mostly) that I'll stop blogging about politics so much. And, on the brighter side there's a 50/50 chance I'll be blogging a lot about the emigrating-to-Canada process.

Oh I kid, I kid.

    Let’s not go there.

Four more years of Republican rule, and I’m not sure I will recognize my country — or be able to afford to live in it.

Come to the UK! It’s not as bad as the right-wing press would have you believe! And the music scene is great! And we love a drink! And the CCTV coverage is almost total! Oh…

Actually, joking aside, I think McCain/Palin are going to clean up. This is it for America y’know – recovering from another 4 years of these nutjobs will be nigh on impossible – shit, they could kill us all.

I’ve also drunk 5 pints of Stella, so ignore me. Sorry Cleek – cluttering up your A W E S O M E blog with my drunken nonsense.

as a Democrat, i’m used to seeing my preferred candidate lose. and as a natural pessimist, i am congenitally afraid of hope. so, i won’t be a bit surprised if Obama loses, but i will be very disappointed in America.

McCain is the most cynical and dishonest politician i’ve ever watched – he makes Bush seem reasonable. i just don’t understand why this race is even close. yes, i know the media has a major boner for McCain, but i expected the people to see through his act. i guess that makes me an “elitist”.

oh well. as this shirt (which i own) says:

If “elitist” just means “not the dumbest motherfucker in the room”, I’ll be an elitist.

cleek: “as a Democrat, i’m used to seeing my preferred candidate lose.”

Gore’s loss was numbing. Kerry’s was bad, but in retrospect you realized he wasn’t a good candidate.

Hillary being steamrolled by Obama (even though it was close in some respects) left me stunned. But I figured Obama was a heckuva consolation prize — and back in the spring he seemed unbeatable.

    Now I don’t know.

What I don’t understand is this big lead McCain now has over white women. Being a white male — who sees McCain as selling his soul for the White House, who applauds Palin’s fighting spirit but that’s it — I just don’t understand this.

Do Americans really want four more years of Republican rule?

    Mind-boggling.

The prospect of 4 more years of Republican rule is absolutely TERRIFYING!
I am consistantly dumbfounded by the numbers of ostriches (they must have their heads firmly entrenched in the sand – dulling their sensibilities) who condone, or continue to make excuses for, or totally ignore, the reality of what has been happening to America under Bush! And, it seems, they have once again glibly swallowed the fistful of lies and deceit agenda being pushed by the McCain/Palin doomsday machine!
The one question that is nipping at the edge of my brain is this – everyone seems to be sidestepping the “black” bias….
I’m certainly NOT racist – but I know there are a huge swarthe of Americans who are…. To my chagrin, I have a hard time persuading myself that this situation is not going to come into play in this election :(
And it seems everyone has refused to enter into it – hell, even Michael Moore tried desperately to sidestep the “black” question on Larry King’s show a week or so ago!
God help us all, come November!
