In The Beginning

What was your first Amazon.com purchase?

Mine was a book, "Designing and Using ActiveX Controls".

I bought it December 10, 1997, when they were still just a bookstore.

I got a free mouse pad with my order! It had the famous Groucho Marx quote on it: "Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana."

WOW. For some odd reason, I didn’t use Amazon at all until January 1, 2009. I must have been shopping from actual retailers up until that point.

Mine was October of 2001…dark times made a little brighter by the purchase:

Apples in Stereo “Let’s Go EP”

I was a longtime user of CDNow (from the mid-90’s). I’ve still got a CDNow ball cap (that was a giveaway with an order) that I still wear now and again.

Bought a Kindle for my son in 2011.

Since then, lots and lots of books and some CDs. Some kitchen items, and underwear too.

I love meat bookstores, however, and frequent one of the great remaining independents, the Tattered Cover, in Denver, and can’t resist purchasing something during those visits.
