Attention: there is no tilde in "habanero" So don't pronounce it "ha-ban-yerro". That is a hyperforeignism.
The pepper's name means "Of Havana" (v and b being interchangeable here), and there is no tilde in "Havana".
Ha-ban-erro.

Still working on retraining myself on this one, as well as my mispronunciation of “anemone.” (I say “an enemy”)
nuclear / nukyalur trips me up sometimes. i think it’s because i’m trying so hard to get it right that ‘nukyalur’ jumps into my head and i say it before i figure out that it’s the one i’m supposed to not say. i never had that problem before W came along and made it an issue.
