Mark Me Red

iPhone's email client does not allow you to mark all messages as 'read' - you have to manually select each message then mark the group as read. Awesome!

Nor does it check the POP server to see if you've deleted messages from the server. So, all the spam I get while my iPhone is on simply accumulates on my iPhone - marked as unread, of course.

This does not inspire confidence.

I’m a lifelong Apple user in the habit of giving them the benefit of the doubt, but it still boggles me how often a company known for superior user experience has massive holes in their UI.

For example, I heavily prefer keyboard shortcuts over mouse movements, but Apple has insisted for 25 years on giving almost no alternative the mouse (now they give me almost no alternative to multi-touch gestures).

So, um, good luck not hating it.

i’m really kindof shocked to learn that the free K9 email client for Android is far superior to the (unreplacable!) iPhone client. it’s not like K9 is the world’s fanciest email client, either – it just does what you expect such an app to do.

a programmer shouldn’t be able to create a bright red message count notifier on the main screen unless there’s a way to do “mark all as read”. how on earth did that get past the first person to use the thing for more than a couple hours?

You can’t replace the email client? Really?

Jesus. Is that the “walled garden” I keep hearing about?

You should have bought a Nexus. Or get a GMail account instead *cough*

And doesn’t owning an iPhone mean more time spent in iTunes? Shudder.
