Indiscipline

I made this a couple of months ago:

But it turns out the silvery grey disc I chose for this doesn't hold dye very well. It's a common problem with certain kinds of plastics, and disc dyers have compiled lists of plastics which work best. This should have worked, according to the chart. But I think maybe the disc isn't exactly what it was sold as, or maybe it's the fact that it's a 'pearly' disc - the mica they use to give plastic that pearly effect can interfere with dye absorption, I've heard from some experienced dyers. Some say they're had no problem.

Here it was just three weeks after dyeing it.

That sucks. That disc was supposed to be my precious masterpiece. Or something.

So here's a different music-themed disc that has held up:

It's the Tribe, Y'all!

The Cost Of Guns

Once a school requires/allows teachers to have guns, the chances it can find the insurance schools are required to have get much lower. And if can find insurance, its rates will go up up up up up. Because, just think of the lawsuits that will be filed once a poorly-trained teacher kills a child while having a shootout with some suicidal gun lover. That's some kinda potential liability!

And the money to cover those insurance premiums will come from taxpayers - the same taxpayers who will refuse to allow their taxes to go up because of Freedumb.

Want to bankrupt public schools? Arm them.

But the leases...

After spending literally decades trying to get access to Alaskan wilderness areas, it turns out that oil companies don't really want it after all. This is from the Anchorage Daily News on Thursday:

Another oil company backs out of leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

The only oil company that bought a single lease in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge early last year has canceled its lease, according to the U.S. Interior Department.

The move by Regenerate Alaska is the latest example of the industry stepping away from possible oil and gas development in the 19-million-acre refuge. Hilcorp and Chevron have also canceled their interest in separate, older leases, on a small tract of Alaska Native corporation-owned land within the refuge’s boundaries.

I think of this:

And I always have. For the past 26 years, at least.

It's nearly the same melody.

And as far as I can tell, there is no mention of this fact anywhere on the internet.

Now there is.
