Après la purge, le iPod starts the week with...
- Miles Davis - Diane. Yummy.
- The Pixies - No.13 Baby. Yummy.
- Sonic Youth - Blink. A Kim song...
- Flaming Lips - Be My Head. From way back in the olden days, before they discovered shiny electronics.
- Yo La Tengo - How To Make A Baby Elephant Float. Sadly, after the time when they discovered lounge music.
- REM - Exhuming McCarthy. Never cared for this one.
- Robyn Hitchcock - The Cheese Alarm (BBC). Never cared much for this one, either.
- Leon Redbone - Shine On Harvest Moon
- Son Volt - Windfall. Nice.
- Superchunk - Cool. Like this one. "Sometimes I fear I neglect to think".
A pretty typical line-up, I guess.
Coincidentally, I've seen the bottom 8 bands live (though the F'lips, just barely): SY 3 times and Robyn H 4 times. And next month I get to see Robyn with Peter Buck from REM (he's part of Robyn's latest band).
I’ve never even heard of 3 of those artists! (Leon Redbone, Son Volt and Superchunk – the latter is a GREAT name for a band tho’!).
IIRC, Superchunk was named after a flavor of ice cream.
and Leon Redbone is an anachronism wrapped in a mystery, wrapped in dark sunglasses.
Leon Redbone is a music historian, as opposed to cleek , who is a music hysterian ;)
it’s true, i get hysterical for the sweet sweet melodies and rhythms. i’m like Sonny the Cocoa Puffs bird – kookoo for the beat.
