I'm thinking about doing something different with this upcoming Name That Tune. But I'd like your opinions, first...
Here are some things I'm considering:
- Make the timeline very short - one or two days, instead of four or five.
- Stop the contest as soon as every song has been identified. Obviously that makes it much more of a race, so I'd have to announce the start well in advance so everyone could get in before things get filled up. It also adds some strategy.
- Allow just one comment per person.
- Do not announce individual scores while it's on, just announce places.
- Don't announce places or scores.
- More hints up-front.
Any opinions?
Surprise us.
Change is a good thing.
Extend the contest through the year but post no songs. Too zen?
I vote for 3 & 5.
1. No. Sometimes a clip has to percolate over a couple of nights.
2. No. Especially if a lot of people are playing.
3. No. That makes a person’s entire entry wait on that one goddamned clip that I know I can get if I just play it enough times
4,5. Maybe
6. Depends. I really like the NTTs that have a theme, and the Rock Cycle was a tour-de-force, where the hints were essentially built in. But that’s a lot of work.
