In retaliation for inflicting upon us such monstrosities as American Idol, Simon Cowell and Supernanny, the US is exporting The Jersey Shore to the UK.
MTV UK has announced the start of production on a Newcastle-based reality TV show named Geordie Shore.
The Jersey Shore-inspired program will follow a group of Geordies in a bid to "bring the personality of the North East alive to viewers in the UK and around the world".

I sometimes like to re-cast these kinds of situations as if they were happening in China or Iran or Italy (basically any country with exotic politics that we superior Americans like to mock), and then to imagine the reaction, upon hearing this news, of the very same American jingoes who watch Fox. “In Italy [snort!], the politicians of one party all work for a single TV station and they pretend to be journalists while campaigning! [WTF face] It allows them to violate the spirit of campaign finance laws! And it doesn't hurt their credibility in the least. The people buy it! [OMG!] We would never stand for such a thing in America! [Harrumph!]”
