The Liberal Media
While he moans about how liberal American movies and popular culture are, Chait mentions:
In the last presidential campaign, Obama was labeled a “celebrity” by John McCain,
And yet, up until he lost the election, John McCain had appeared on The Daily Show more than any other guest. Seems like something only a celebrity would be able to claim.
And, old news aside... what's so liberal about Hollywood's undying love of gratuitous violence ? If movie and TV producers are so bound up with the liberal ethos, shouldn't there be a hell of a lot less gun violence in what they make? And fewer murders? And more vegetarians?

I just started a game of FB Scrabble with four consecutive bingos. Maybe this time, I'll finally get the better of that Malaysian person who knows every word in the Scrabble dictionary.

Movie Proposal
A story about the JFK assassination, in which an actor (Tom Hanks, for example) plays both JFK and Oswald. They're played by the same actor because, in this story, Oswald thinks he is JFK, and is so troubled by seeing this alternate version of himself making political decisions that he disagrees with, that he needs to kill the JFK-Oswald out of guilt. Of course JFK is not really Oswald's alternate incarnation, but we see everything from Oswald's point of view, so they have to be the same actor.
Or, was something like this a movie already? Sounds like it should have been, if not.

'Cause you're not welcome on eBay.
Beginning in September, the site [eBay] is banning the sale of "advice, spells, curses, hexing, conjuring, magic, prayers, blessing services, magic potions, [and] healing sessions," according to a policy update.
The company is also eliminating its category listings for psychic readings and tarot card sessions.
Round And Round
Mrs. emailed me an image taken with her iPhone, taken with a vertical orientation (taller than wide) - she turned her camera 90 degrees clockwise. Cameras routinely put a little note in the image file (in the image's "EXIF" data) that tells viewers how to rotate the image in order to display as the photographer took it. Very handy. And when I look at her email in gMail, the thumbnail image is rotated correctly. So, gMail pays attention to the rotation flag and generates the thumbnail correctly. Smart!
When I click on the thumbnail image in gMail, Firefox displays the full size image. But, Firefox does not apply the rotation specified by the image's EXIF data, so what I see is rotated 90 deg counter-clockwise from what it should be.
Curious, I Googled to see if there was a Firefox fix for this. Didn't find one. But I found this Bugzilla thread, on which the Firefox developers have been debating whether or not to fix this issue for four seven years.
Jesus. Just fix the fucking thing!!!
