That's what he's saying?

Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
The place is a madhouse
Feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved
Under moon and star

Where am I to go
Now that I've gone too far

I've never known what he was singing in the bolded part.

Took me 34 years to bother looking it up.

The “being cloned” part always sounded like “King Kong” to me. But with a weird accent. Like “Keeng Kawng.”

      i always heard:

“i don’t mind steppin into the Twilight Zone
      faces you may how
      fears ike being blown
      my he haws an moo
      like the moon and star”

Until well into my questionable adulthood, I heard these lyrics from the Beatles:

    Strawberry Fields Forever:
    “I think I know I mean a “Yes” but it’s all wrong”

    as …

“I think I know of thee, ah, yes, but it’s all wrong”

    Norwegian Wood:
    “So I lit a fire
    Isn’t it good
    Norwegian wood”

    as …..

    “So I rectify
    Isn’t it good
    Norwegian wood”

In the first case, I think my mishearing might be better than the original.
