after one listen, i can say: sounds a bit more loose and rough than GaGaGaGaGa, which was very polished for a Spoon record. it’s also not as immediately catchy. nothing really stands out after one listen. but that’s typical of Spoon records – i usually have to grow into them.
Downloading it from the iTunes Store to my iPhone RIGHT NOW! Can’t wait to hear it.

Just had my first listen and I agree with your initial assessment. Stand out track is Got Nuffin’. Can’t wait for the journey home so I can listen to it again.

Does your copy of ‘Mystery Zone’ (track 3) appear to stop prematurely or do I have a corrupt download?
yeah, mine cuts off @ 4:59. not sure if that’s intentional or not.

Did you get it from iTunes or direct from the band’s site?
This happened to me before with a track on the last Strokes album. That was meant to cut off – but I didn’t find out until after sending numerous emails to the iTunes Store. :)
yeah. it’s pretty good. not as great as the first, but worth getting.

I listened to the first Vampire Weekend album on the way in this morning, for the first time in a few months. Superb! Every song was like an old friend. Kind of scared to get the new one if it isn’t as good.
nah… i think if you like the first one, you’ll find much to like about the second.
Ugh
So, verdict on the latest Spoon album?

My 2c. After repeated listens I am in sweet lurve with the new Spoon album. It isn’t as immediate as their last one, but give it a few listens and it implants itself firmly in your head. :) Highly recommended! I can’t wait for the journey to work tomorrow so I can listen to it again! :) There are so many good tracks that there’s no point listing the ones I like – just buy it and let it seep into your life. I actually think the quality of the songs is better than on “Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga” – there are a couple of tracks on that album that are a bit weak.
The new Vampire Weekend album is pretty good too, but I still need to give it a few more listens.
Ugh
Thanks much. Likely will get the new VW and Spoon.

i got mine from iTunes, too.
but a little Googling confirms that other people hear that cutoff, too. i’m going with Intentional.
Vampire Weekend? Should I…?
yeah. it’s pretty good. not as great as the first, but worth getting.
