HD Q

Three weeks later, I realize that I have four 250GB drives sitting on my desk, and nothing to do with them. I don't really need more storage in any of my PCs, my NAS has all the drives it can handle. I have three external USB HDs of various sizes already.

What would you do if you had this problem ?

I’ve been upgrading the RAID servers at work by replacing 500 GB disks with 1500 GB ones, so now I’m faced with sixteen temporarily unused 500 Gb disks. My view is, stash them somewhere until you can use them, because eventually you’ll wish you had a spare few hundred gigs in a hurry.

Yes. According to the Experts, you can never have too many backups.

un/fortunately, i think i’m pretty well covered for backups. i do semi-weekly to my NAS, and semi-monthly to a USB drive that i keep in a safety deposit box.

i guess i could make images of my existing drives onto two of the four, just in case – it’s probably easier to restore from images than to rebuild from backups.

    hmm.

Is there any demand for these?

nah. these would be about $45 brand new, each. but mine have almost four years of use on them.

3x tastier than standard Q ! but you need a special, wide, mouth to eat it.

You need a camera hat. Start videotaping your life 24/7 and see how long it takes you to fill up those drives.
