Wow, sometimes he really nails Morrison’s inflection, without ever explicitly imitating his timbre. I like how the video is more an emulation of a style than a madcap send-up. As somebody who owned Weird Al’s first five albums on LP, I’ve come to realize that his songs are only half of the parody, and you really need to see the video.
Speaking of Manzarek (on whom I have a terrible musical crush) I got to see him on the Love Lion tour with Michael McClure back in 1993. The show was mostly McClure speaking and Manzarek playing, but at one point Ray spoke to the audience, and he was every bit as tripped-out and spacey sounding as I would hope a ’60s icon to be.
