I've tried, but I can't seem to find anything to like in Frank Zappa's music. I can find things to like in his approach to music: eager to do his own thing, no matter how odd, or out of step with the times, no matter how challenging to the listener, etc.. But the music itself? Gack. Bad enough to make my teeth itch. Nonetheless he was right about the Right.

I know exactly what you mean. The man is a certified rock God, and right about many things, but I was never able to really enjoy any of this music — until I heard his album “Hot Rats”. You can’t write off Zappa completely until you have done yourself a favor and listened to that album.
