So, the first thing I see when I click on the link is a big banner by the Washington Post complaining about my ad-blocker. Now, my copies of the Sunday Times and the New Yorker all have ads, but of course they’re print. I don’t know that much about the mechanics of the internet . . . but I know there are some sites (mainly photo-related) that have ads that are part of the sites (mainly B&H ads). I guess that it’s not realistic for the WaPo and the NYT to place ads directly on their pages. Technical issues?
