I've always preferred the nose-free version: :)

I hate that Outlook automatically converts my smiley into a picture of a smile. I just turned that off in WordPress.

Goddamn I'm bored at work today.

i’ve recently discovered google chat smileys, in which the typed smileys don’t change to pictures, but they do rotate 90 degrees so that they’re right side up. depending on my mood, i find this either annoying or charming.
