What's The Half-life of a Lynching?

At ObWi, russell, drops a link to a map of lynchings in the US (1900-1931).

Turn out there were zero in NY state. Whew.

But, there were thirty-something in NC, including one in Chatham County (current house) and two in Wake County (former houses). I'm a little curious to learn the details, but I'm also afraid that I could learn that they happened in places I can't avoid and will have to think of those details every time I drive by.

Heckfajob, racists: your violence didn't just kill your victims, it corrupted the area. Forever?
