I wonder if the vote in the UK this week had any bearing on this? Or recent opinion polls that put between 60% and 80% of the US public firmly in the “No!” camp…
The polls are similar here. Handing off what was likely to be an unpopular decision to America’s least popular institution is the political equivalent of passing the ball to you with :01 seconds on the shot clock. “Shoot, congress!”
now if they could just STFU with the whole “we may act even if Congress says No” bit…
