...would anyone give a gun to a four year old ?
My parents didn't even like it when my stepfather gave me one for my 16th birthday.

Trying to think how old I was when I first fired a gun. Probably around 8. The YMCA camp I went to in and around that age had a rifle range with little in the way of safety, other than perhaps locking the guns up at night. IOW, I could have turned around and shot someone in the face with little difficulty, it just never would have occurred to me to do so.
I imagine things are a little more stringent now, if they even have a rifle range at all.
