Jesus fucking blistered Wow.
What a great record.
All hail the Minutemen.
How did I miss them all these years?
Maybe partying will help

As I look over this beautiful land,
I can't help but realize that I am alone.
Why am I able to waste my energy?
To notice life being so beautiful?
What of the people who don't have what I ain't got?
Are they victims of my leisure?
To fail is to be a victim,
To be a victim of my choice.
Maybe partying will help

43 songs? Really!?
I’ll be sure to check them out.
check out “We Jam Econo” on Netflix
43 songs but all like a minute long. Get drunk while you listen.
Wow, you missed out on the Minutemen?? They were like my favorite band in ’84 – ’85. Check out fIREHOSE if you haven’t already because they are also excellent.
i remember fIREHOSE. but i never took that one step back. or, i probably did, but it didn’t click at the time.
I second C Nelson Reilly’s “We Jam Econo” recommendation….hard to believe in these market-driven and self-promoting days that a band could sustain itself through sheer hard work and passion–especially producing music that required a fair bit of focus and sonic open-mindedness to appreciate.
That said, I *admired* the Minutemen a lot more than I actually *liked* their music. “Double Nickels” had some great moments, but generally their records struck me as a morass of incomprehensible cultural allusions played over random fragments of jazz.
