OK – have greasemonkey installed & running to old version now. Problem is I don’t remember how I installed the old version & I don’t see how to install this new version. google was no help and nothing I have tried has worked. Its hell being computer illiterate. How does one “install it”?
To install it , follow the link in this post then click the “download” link on that page. It should install automatically.
Frank
Nope! What happens when I click that link is that it opens the .js script.
I’m running the latest Firefox on a Vista box – in case that offers any clue. Sorry to be a pest about this but that is your punishment for the good deed you did in offering it. Thanks.
sounds like GreaseMonkey isn’t installed. normally, when you click on a “*.user.js” file, GM will jump up and ask if you want to install it or not.
check the FF “Add-ons” screen – do you see a “User Scripts” section?
Frank
Yes but I will try removing & reinstalling it. Thanks for putting up with my questions.
Frank
nope – that didn’t work. I am going to look at the other extensions. This worked a year or so ago I don’t think I have added anything but I’ll keep pounding away on it.

Google says that this is a somewhat-common GM issue.
try this:
1. uninstall GM.
2. delete folder: C:UsersusernameAppDataRoamingMozillaFirefoxProfilesbunch of nonsense.defaultgm_scripts
3. reinstall GM
removed greasemonkey. Searched for any of that string you list & none of it shows up anywhere on the system. Reinstalled GM – nothing.
I’ll google some myself to see if I can find anyting. THANKS AGAIN!
