Conquest

Really? The White Stripes record company didn't say "No, sorry. Not gonna release that. That's the dumbest song ever. Are you high?"

Man, I love it! :) Really. And the drumming on that song is actually quite good.

the previous three are worth purchasing, definitely. my favorite is White Blood Cells (2001) because it’s the first one i heard.

the two before those three are good, but not as good as the later three.

in my studied opinion, of course.

They are all worth it apart from perhaps ‘Get Behind Me Satan’, which, IMHO, has too much Marimba and not enough guitar (though it does still have a clutch of killer tunes). The first album is pretty raw, but hey, that might suit you just fine. Try ‘White Blood Cells’ or ‘Elephant’ first and take it from there.

    My faves, in order are:

    White Blood Cells (2002)
    Elephant (2003)
    Icky Thump (2007)
    De Stijl (2000)
    Get Behind Me Satan (2005)
    The White Stripes (1999)

However, the bottom 3 sometimes jostle for position, depending what mood I’m in. Very impressed with ‘Icky Thump’ so far too – been playing it non-stop today and even the two Scottish songs are growing on me (and ‘Little Cream Soda’ doubles my heart rate every time I hear the opening chords).

yeah, Rob’s got it right. and i will defer to his ranking of Icky Thump because i’ve only heard it once through.

just put “The White Stripes” at the bottom and White Blood Cells at the top, and you’re all set. :)

Thanks guys. Despite having a brother-in-law in the music business, I seem to not be up on what’s good these last few years.
