Hillary says no, pulling out of Iraq isn't the same as pulling out of Iraq. We can pull out, but we have to leave troops there to fight Al-Q and to help the Iraq army. Oy. Good to know. Not that I was all that excited about her candidacy anyway.
Come on Obama, don't fuck it up.
Oops, too late. Obama's plan says:
- The plan allows for a limited number of U.S. troops to remain in Iraq as basic force protection, to engage in counter-terrorism and to continue the training of Iraqi security forces.
Same dog shit, different used grocery bag.

Can you name one nationally recognized person in the country who you would like to be president that hasn’t run before?
upon re-reading that reads as a hostile question, it wasn’t I was just curious
maybe NC Gov Easley?
from what i do know, he seems like a decent guy. but really i don’t know enough about him to know where he stands on all the issues a President would run into. he’s just the only politician i can think of who hasn’t disappointed me on some issue.
other than him, i got nothing.
you?
he’s just the only politician i can think of who hasn’t disappointed me on some issue.
That’s a high bar. After the clown show we’ve been treated to the last 6 years (one that I sadly voted for in 2000), I’d settle for someone interested in policy and governing the county in its best interests.
I don’t got much, I was going to say Bill Bradley but he ran in 2000 and doesn’t qualify under my rules (and I’m going to have to DQ Easley as I’ve never heard of him – hey, I made up the rules).
Warren Buffet?
Former Treas. Sec. Robert Rubin?
Paul Tagliabue?
That’s a high bar.
too high, probably.
I’d settle for someone interested in policy and governing the county in its best interests.
there are a few current candidates who i think fit that description (even R’s!), i just disagree with their opinion of what’s best for the country. and some things (like Iraq) feel non-negotiable, right now. in another 20 months, i’m sure i’ll be a little more flexible about things.
i just disagree with their opinion of what’s best for the country
Yeah, but I could live with someone who I thought was genuinely doing what he/she thought was right. The current crew seems interested only in personal power and US hegemony over the world (thus increasing their power). Maybe I was too young but I didn’t get that sense from Bush I and Reagan (not that Clinton was exactly perfect).
