Brain Dead

Nothing to say these days. It seems that all my mental energy has been sucked up by the process of finding a house plan we can afford and a builder we like, and Skyrim.

I am starting the process of getting the entries for the 2012 iteration of my Top 100 Records set up so I can start voting on them - using the same system we used for the 2011 Reader's Record Poll. I'm toying with the idea of opening a parallel vote on it, so other people can vote on the same records that I'm voting on - see how your picks differ from mine, on the same set of records. We'll see if I have the energy to make that happen.

It has been pretty quiet around here of late.

Good luck with building a new home. Sounds exciting! You ‘merkins do a lot of this sort of thing – building your own house from the ground up – it’s not something that happens a lot in the UK. Probably because we’re packed in pretty tight and planning regulations are quite strict.

We bought a new house that was in the process of being built when we paid our deposit but the only advantage was we got to choose the tiles, carpet, kitchen cabinets, etc. Bit different to sitting with an architect and deciding if you can afford a proper music room or man cave. :)

the other houses we’ve owned were already done when we moved in. so, they were easy! the building process is baffling so far.

we looked at hundreds and hundreds of house plans, and eventually found one we liked. but it turned out to be far too expensive to build. so we’re back to looking. i picked out four plans at work, Monday, and sent them home to share with Mrs.. turns out three of them were the exact same house – one was a left/right flip; the other had a slightly different upstairs room arrangement. it’s all blending together.
