With Reservoir Dogs is the ear scene.
With friends, I've seen the first half of that movie a dozen times; but the ear scene always drives everyone out of the room, and then we forget about the movie. And I don't think I've seen the ending more than once. And even then, I wasn't really paying attention.
Just watched it on my own - washed out some dishes during ear scene.

Interesting. I never even flinched at the ear scene so never thought about it. It is definitely graphic and off-putting I guess, but I suppose I have developed a stomach for violence, for good or bad.
Relatedly, this reminded me of the time I was visiting an old friend with my then new wife and we were going to rent a movie. We thought Happiness was such a good film that we would share it. Turns out pedophilia and masturbation by preteens is a wee bit off-putting as well.
