Yeah I didn't signal, but you clearly knew I wanted to merge. I could tell you knew because it was obvious that you were trying to close up the space in front of you to stop me from doing it. Nevertheless, I should've ignored your horn. There was no need for it to get all rude.

For some reason my wife seems to think other drivers should just “sense” when she wants to change lanes. She will often get frustrated and make some complaint about how the other drive won’t slow down and let her get into the right lane. And I’m thinking, “How is he supposed to know you want to do that, you don’t have your signal on!”
let’s just pretend my wife doesn’t make the same complaint about me.
