When US election time comes around, many people here will wistfully hope that one party wins the House and that the other party will win the Senate, thus setting up the wonderous state where partisan considerations prevent any legislation of significance from passing: "gridlock". This is, the theory goes, a good thing because a Congress that can't do anything is a Congress that can't fuck up anything.
Well, the GOP has the House and the Dems have the Senate (though only barely because the Senate is a completely broken institution). So, all, you cynical wishers: your wish has come true. And
we are all suffering because of it.
