Streamer, You're Nothing But A Streamer

The problem with going to the streaming-only option from Netflix is that their streaming-only selection is pretty weak - unless you really like aging, low-budget movies, that is.

There are some pretty great foreign movies streaming on Netflix. A fairly large proportion of the movies I’ve watched this year (which is the first year I’ve had a computer with a monitor worth watching movies on), probably more than ¾, have been streamed from Nf.

i was killin some time a couple of weekends ago and tried some streamin… i ended up trying to watch Buckaroo Bonzai. failed. then i tried to watch Dune. also failed. those are two very bad movies.

Granted. But you can also watch “The 5 Obstructions” on streaming, or “Brother’s Keeper”, or “The Beaches of Agnès”; and those are some of the best movies around.

There’s also the TV series (like Battlestar Galactica) that have disc-only episodes. In BG’s case, that includes the two-part miniseries that kicked off the whole shebang.

I remember Buckaroo Bonzai as kind of a cool movie. But I am guessing it will fall into one of those “How the hell did I like this back when I was a dumb teenager” kind of things. Sorta like Speed Racer, which is horribly boring if I watch it now.

i’d always heard good things about it.

but i probably waited too long, and now it’s not the kind of thing i like. maybe if i’d seen it in ’89 or whatever…
