Caprica Canceled

SyFy has Canceled "Caprica".

Can't say that I'm surprised. I'm more surprised that they brought it back for a second season (even though they called it part of the first season but stuck a 10 month gap between parts).

The show was a bit of a mess. I can't even count the number of uninteresting plot lines they were trying to keep alive - and they were constantly spinning-off new ones. The only plot line I really wanted to watch, Zoe's, wasn't even part of the last episode; instead, we got more dumb-ass inter-colony politics, a new plot line about some confusing V-world stuff with Graystone and his wife, a new plot line about the gay mobster's side business, a new plot line about Mrs Graystone moving into the communal house, etc.. It just kept twisting and turning and taking off on tangents, spawning new plots, but never really getting anywhere.

We gave it our best shot. But it never really delivered.

I hope the next BSG prequel spin-off, BSG: Blood And Chrome is better (though that name doesn't give me much hope).

Inky Dinks

The 25-year-old victim had been visiting the man, an amateur tattooist, at his home in Bundamba [Australia] last Wednesday when he was talked into getting a tattoo.

He wanted a yin and yang symbol with some dragons, but was instead shocked to discover the 40cm tattoo was of a penis with an obscene slogan.

The key word in the slogan was also misspelled.

The man now faces considerable cost to have the image removed.

Police said the tattooing followed an argument between the men, during which the tattooist allegedly took offence at something the other man said.

The victim has also alleged he was punched and thrown out of the house following the tattooing.

Details Of The Iraqi War Dead

It appears that there were some 100,000-120,000 Iraqi deaths during the war, with a quarter or more of them hostiles (terrorists and others opposing the new Iraqi government or foreign troops.) The fact that over 90 percent of the dead were adult males is also an indication of warfare, not just random killing. Most of the women and children killed were the result of car or truck bombs in crowded places, or kids playing near where a roadside bomb was planted.

Votard

Standing here in line to vote... 90% of the people here are 50 or older. There are a lot of them and most look angry.

That's probably not a good sign.
