Let's listen to Tom Petty!
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers - Listen to Her Heart
You're welcome.
Petty was a constant on the radio ever since the days I started paying attention to it, and all the way through when I stopped paying attention to it. I liked what I thought was his first album ("Damn The Torpedoes"), but I was ten. And it wore thin through over-playing pretty quickly. So I got kindof bored and annoyed with him by the mid-80s.
It wasn't until the last few months that I've started looking back at his stuff, and I'm finding it a lot more fun than I ever had. Plus it's turning out to be much more well-crafted than I ever realized.
And, his Sirius/XM show is pretty good, too.
I was lucky enough to grow up in the U.K. during the period that the Old Grey Whistle Test (BBC2) was broadcasting “guaranteed live” (ie bands could actually play) . And it seemed to be irrespective of genre. Great times, and I remember this very Tom Petty broadcast.
the good old days…. when bands played.
it’s so awesome that so much of this stuff is on YouTube now. i spend hours and hours watching OGWT clips.
Me too. If I could have told my teenage what would become available via youtube. Damn.
*teenage self, that is.
