OK, so I am a contractor at A COMPANY YOU HAVE ALL HEARD OF (OK it’s Nokia) and was using an online umbrella company to handle my invoicing, tax affairs, etc. However, it is better (in the UK) to set up your own limited company and invoice your client directly – you cut out the middle man and pay a little less in taxes and VAT.
Plus, I want my own software business so was going to do this sooner or later.
The company is called xe-qt-solutions.com (pronounced ‘execute’ – it’s a very specific geek thing). No website yet but it’s a bona-fide UK company and I’m the owner (Mrs C is a director with a 50% share obv.)
Exciting! Can’t wait to get some headed paper and business cards printed! :)
sweet!
that’s what my company’s doing for me right now. saves me 7% on income, basically. plus i get to buy computers!
