OT – so are you watching Caprica? If so, good, not good? Don’t need details just wondering if it was worth my time.

    hmmm… tough one.

if it wasn’t the BSG prequel, i don’t think i’d have watched more than an episode or two. it’s just not as good as BSG. but, it has potential.

    yeah, soapy, definitely.

don’t read any more of this if you think you might watch it:

i think it’s a bit too slow. everybody knows how everything has to end up – because we’ve seen BSG. but the show tries to juggle like ten different storylines, all creeping towards the inevitable together. but, the really cool ones (the real reason to watch in the first place, IMO): the handful of storylines dealing directly with the cylon origin – all have to share time with all kinds of character development: backstory, love stories, politics, religion, corporate intrigue – you know, all the things BSG did, too. but at its best, BSG balanced all that stuff with a lot of groovy space shootouts and mindfuck prophecy/alternate reality/whatever stuff. Caprica doesn’t have much of that.

they’re trying to make a world, but i just want to see the cylons !

    Monster

is the UK Monster completely filled with agency jobs ?

it’s rare to see a job from the actual company in the US version.

Yeh, completely agency-tastic from what I’ve seen so far tonight. Lots of C++ though which is … good. I think it’s quite rare for companies to advertise themselves. Ask me again next week.

BTW, We haven’t had this conversation right? :)

What really bugs me about some job sites is their refusal to accept my CV in PDF format. I don’t have MS Word – I created my CV using Google Docs, which exports to PDF nicely but the MS Word option looks a bit shite. This means I have to load it into Open Office first, tidy it up, then save it back as MS Word. Ack.

The Monster UI and search is by far the best so far. Their only rival so far seems to be cwjobs.co.uk. Some of the job sites out there are really poor. My 6 year old daughter could write nicer looking HTML.

Hey Rob, heard a nice quote the other day — “If the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Unless your hammer is C++, in which case every problem looks like a thumb.”
