What say you?

Just setting up my new laptop and have an iTunes quandary. I have copied all the music off my old machine but only about 60% of it is actually in my iTunes library. What I want is to remove the mp3 files that iTunes isn’t using but I have no idea how I can do this automatically. Ack.
Once my music is on and iTunes is installed I’ll post a list. :)
there are XML/DOM parsers out there which can read the iTunes library files. so, read it and get a list of files in the lib. then scan the directory. then find the set of files in the folder which aren’t in the library.
that’s what i’d do, anyway.
Worked it out.
First, I held down Shift when starting iTunes which allows you to select a library, so I chose the one on the backup disk. I then changed the location of my music via the iTunes Advanced Preferences to my new laptop’s disk. Finally I used the ‘Consolidate’ option to move the music from the original source to my laptop – which only moves files that are in the library.
It might take a while but it seems to only be moving files that I actually care about.
First list from my new lappy…
1. Elastica – Car Song (1995)
2. Jeff Buckley – So Real (1994)
3. Shed Seven – On Standby (1996)
4. The Beatles – Good Morning Good Morning (1967)
5. R.E.M. – Let Me In (1994)
6. Vampire Weekend – M79 (2008)
7. Sex Pistols – God Save The Queen (1977)
8. The Music – Open Your Mind (2004)
9. Stevie Ray Vaughan – Dirty Pool (1983)
10. Radiohead – A Reminder (1998)
