nice piece. i never realized that he was actually doing (his version of) kabuki – that he was actually into it and learned how to do some of it early on. seems obvious now.
that new Bowie album is growing on me. i still skip a few of them, but the rest is getting better.
Not using iTunes I am not sure how to randomly select an album. I’ve think I’ve written that before here even. Be that as it may, MediaMonkey randomed this one up as the first song so this album is what I will listen to this evening.
My apologies to all my fans for my recent absence. Work and sickness and beer and sudden funeral trips to the US and concerts (I saw the Residents!) and beer have occupied my time.
Oh How I Love Beer
Good Beer Is Always Damn Good
True Tautology.

Ha! I bought Alligator on Saturday.
I also scored tickets to see The National in November in London with Mrs. C (who is a big fan too). We haven’t been to a gig together alone in many, many years.
Lucky you! My last concert with the Mrs. was Foo Fighters (with Queens of the Stone Age as openers), That was the bomb, if I can use totally outdated lingo.
don’t really know anything about The National, but they’re playing round these parts soon, with Dirty Projectors, who i imagine would be a trip to see, live.
The whole album is kickass but virtually unheard of. Sample lyric:
Lee Atwater was on the corner
Turning tricks
Clutching the failed box set
Of his heartfelt blues licks
He said “I think I liked the ghetto better
When it was sick”
Beethoven: Chamber Music (L’archibudelli)
Also, Ian Buruma writes about David Bowie in the latest New York Review of Books.

Mrs and i are doing an all-nostalgia show summer: Dylan last month, Robert Plant next month and then … Iron Maiden (!)
