    My grandfather had all of Jimmie Rodgers’ music so, I grew up listening to him. It’s been said that he is the father of country music. But he was a blues man all the way.

    I’m sorry I never connected with my grandpa around music. One day a couple of years after he died, I was talking to my dad about my big new musical discovery, Ernie Tubb — “Oh yeah, he was one of your grandpa’s favorites.” Jimmie Rodgers, too.
