Five/describe, because I already finished it before I noticed this was a standard ten.

Randy Travis – Forever and Ever, Amen
Randy Travis’s neo-traditional approach was the best thing to happen during the early ’90s, Garth Brooks-era C&W resurgence.

    Lila Downs – Naila
A lovely side helping of clarinet to go with your Mexican ballad.

Ramin Djawadi – North of the Wall
Ominous, but definitely a soundtrack piece: it works fine as the background to an action scene, but doesn’t stand well on its own.

    The Police – Invisible Sun
I always thought the more successful “King of Pain” bore a close similarity to this one.

Little Richard – Rip It Up
One of my faves, in part because for years my local radio station wouldn’t play it. Don’t know why; they played other Little Richard songs, but not this one. So when I finally tracked down the 45, it was so delicious.
