Start Your iPods

Random five, with optional accompanying text descriptions!

  1. The Cure - Pornography. The Cure had gloomier songs, and sadder songs, but this is probably their angriest. Tough way to start a week.
  2. Neil Young - Oh, Lonesome Me. Oh, lonesome you.
  3. Tanya Donelly - Wrap-Around Skirt. It's been a while since I have been able to find a song on YouTube. Odd that this isn't there. It's a perfectly fine song, from a good album by the great Tanya Donnely.
  4. Jimi Hendrix - Ain't No Telling. A funky thing.
  5. No Knife - Under The Moon. It's a shame this band didn't get more attention when it was still around. They were pretty great.

Huh. I turned on my shuffle around noon meaning to post a comment here of the first 5 (which were “Big Bend Gal” by the Sheor Family, “Love Has Turned to Skulls” by Robyn Hitchcock, “Red Gap” by me, with a guitar in the background that I think must be me too, “You’ve got a sweet mouth on you baby” by RH, and “Shot of Love” by Dylan) — something distracted me and now I’ve been doing things around the house, reading, chatting for a couple of hours with the shuffle in the background.

What a week. And it’s not over yet. Music, soothe me!

    1. Stone Roses – She Bangs The Drums
    2. The Beatles – Can’t Buy Me Love
    3. The Duke Spirit – Dog Roses
    4. Peaches – You Love It
    5. Primal Scream – Higher Then The Sun

And as I’m so hacked off, here’s 5 more:

    6. Ride – Chelsea Girl
    7. Blur – 1992
    8. Elbow – Something In The Air
    9. New Order – Age Of Consent
    10. David Bowie – Because You’re Young

    And relax…
