I was thinking the other day about just how destructive the Bush and his fellow MBFs have been since 9/11. I mean, for Christsakes there were spontaneous vigils for the U.S. in Iran after that. Bush took all of that international goodwill and pissed it down the drain, and continues to do so.
They’ve gone so far that John Cole is saying things like “Not to go all Michael Moore on you, but there is a point when simply trying these people and convicting them will not be enough to restore confidence in our system. Public executions might.” in response to Cheney “I’m an independent branch of gov’t argument.
these days ‘confidence in the system’ seems like something only a crazy person would have. like that old saying says: “if you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention”; even though i used to associate that sentiment with radical conspiracy theorists, it’s simply true, these days.
which reminds me of TNH’s new-classic: “I deeply resent the way this administration makes me feel like a nutbar conspiracy theorist.”
