On the Ubuntu machine tonight, 30,000+ songs on random.

    1. Midnight to Midnight – Psychedelic Furs
    2. Squalor Victoria – The National
    3. Pride (In the Name of Love) – U2
    4. Cocoon – The Decembrists
    5. Cheeking Tongues – Wire
    6. The Dance of Maya – Mahavishnu Orchestra
    7. Down on the Corner – Johnny Marr and the Healers
    8. Cars – Gary Numan

That last one is the song that is playing in Silence of the Lambs when Jame Gumb is dancing in the mirror like a woman and saying, “do you think I’m pretty?”

Perhaps in moderation. I wrote it up again and it seemed to take it but it didn’t show up again. But I had copied it and then pasted it into a new one and it said I had already submitted that comment.

Post-purge iTunes library (I cleared a good 30% of dross a while back.)

Just downloading The Boxer by The National as I am totally into this band.

Met up with an old friend at the weekend who was raving about a band called Deerhunter. Anyone heard their stuff?

Yeah, Deerhunter are pretty good. Sort of like Sonic Youth meets My Bloody Valentine and the singer reminds me a bit of Mark E. Smith from the Fall. Actually, The Fall is a pretty decent touchstone. If you like their stuff you’ll probably like Deerhunter.

Sadly I’m not a massive fan of The Fall. However, I won’t let this put me off and will see what Deerhunter’s latest release, Halcyon Digest, sounds like. :)

Cleek – they’ve supported Spoon recently so did you see them?
