Google Music Search

Google just keeps getting more useful...

Search for "James Brown" and you'll see a link, in the "Web / Video / News" bar, for "Music", which is the results of Google's "Music Search": Google Search: james brown.

Then you'll get to see all (?) of his albums and songs. The album links bring up lists of all the tracks on the album, which in turn link to info about each particular song, including links to cover versions, lyrics, etc..

It's much faster and cleaner than AllMusic, if you're just looking up songs on albums. But, they don't have the depth that AllMusic does (neither "Robyn Hitchcock" nor "Sea and Cake" for example, bring up a "Music" link). It's a work in progress, I assume.

Still, pretty cool.

Burn Him!

He's a witch! wizard!

Substitute teacher Jim Piculas does a 30-second magic trick where a toothpick disappears then reappears.

But after performing it in front of a classroom at Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes, Piculas said his job did a disappearing act of its own.

"I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue, you can't take any more assignments you need to come in right away,'" he said.

When Piculas went in, he learned his little magic trick cast a spell and went much farther than he'd hoped.

"I said, 'Well Pat, can you explain this to me?' 'You've been accused of wizardry,' [he said]. Wizardry?" he asked.

Maybe he was dressed up like the annoying wizard from the annoying Verizon annoying commercial annoying with annoying those annoying sales annoying droids ?

Oh Joy

Some spammer is using my company's domain as the return address on their latest blast of spam. Looking at some of the bounces, the spams range from "Download now Meg Ryan Gallery porno!!" to [bunch of stuff in Russian] to "Hi, remember me", to "You're an idiot!" Some have virus attachments.

It's unfortunate, but the ability to fake return addresses means email is fundamentally broken.
