The Buying Of Lot 43

Today's the day that we close on a plot of wooded land out in the country. Sure, we own the land our current house is on, but 1/10 of an acre seems more like a technicality - a house has to sit on something, after all - it doesn't really feel like Land. In a few hours, we'll own acres. Sweet.

We're going to put up a strip mall, with a nail salon, a Subway, two dry cleaners, and a space that will rotate between ice cream shop, stationary store, tax prep service and antique store. No skateboarding.

OT – do you know of a way to filter authors (not comments) at Balloon Juice? For some reason the only people I care to read there are John, Tim F (who rarely posts) and DougJ (depending on the topic). Sadly that’s only about 15% of the content these days.

It’s funny too how many gaps there are in the sequence, as though John has created a lot of author accounts that were never used or deleted.

I mean, Tim F. is #8? He’s been there since 2005. Who are the missing 6?

the pie filter used to have the ability to filter the front page, but no longer. not sure when i took that out.

i’ll see about putting it back in.

    Nice Thomas Pynchon ref.

Maybe a government-funded skateboard park? And frozen yogurt, the kind where you serve yourself, sprinkling nuts and stuff on top and then they weigh it for your price.
