Petty was a constant on the radio ever since the days I started paying attention to it, and all the way through when I stopped paying attention to it. I liked what I thought was his first album ("Damn The Torpedoes"), but I was ten. And it wore thin through over-playing pretty quickly. So I got kindof bored and annoyed with him by the mid-80s.
It wasn't until the last few months that I've started looking back at his stuff, and I'm finding it a lot more fun than I ever had. Plus it's turning out to be much more well-crafted than I ever realized.
And, his Sirius/XM show is pretty good, too.
