  5. Parallel 5ths (Psychedelic Steel)

Man! I started out strong… It’s funny how quickly I could find the correct pic once I figured out the tune. Before the internet, I guess we just stared at album covers.

    1. Canary In A Coalmine. The Police 10

    2. Money. Pink Floyd 7

    3??

    4 I hear an Echoplex, I think!

5.I’m going to be hopping mad when you reveal this one. Can’t pull it out of deep storage!

    6. Casey Jones. Grateful Dead . 9

    7 The End. Doors 4

8 Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite. Beatles. 11 I say you subtract a point for forgetting the “Being” part. Yes, I’m trying to bend the curve, prof.

    9 ??

10 The Sounds Of Science. Beastie Boys 1

    11. Highway 61 Revisited. Bob Dylan 19

    12. Jimi Hendrix

    13. so familiar! Steve Winwood?

    14. ???

    15.???

    16???

    17???

    18 It’s a strat w/ a little chorus!

    19 ??? Men At Work. 13

    20. Southern Man. Neil Young 16

  6. Cris

Thank you for forcing me to listen to the full albums of Axis Bold As Love, Highway 61 Revisited. and Sticky Fingers.

    1. Cris

      11 – Bob Dylan – Highway 61 Revisited – 19
      12 – Jimi Hendrix – Little Miss Lover – 5

This cover art thing is a great concept.

  7. James Gary

    Here are my guesses:

    1. Police, “Canary In A Coal Mine,” graphic #10.
    2. Pink Floyd, “Money,” #7.
    3. ??
    4. Chuck Berry, “Johnny B. Goode.”
    5. Clash, “Guns Of Brixton,” #14.
    6. Grateful Dead, “Casey Jones,” #9.
    7. Doors, “The End,” #4.
    8. Beatles, “Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite,” and no matter how hard I try I cannot figure out which of the little images is from “Sgt. Pepper.”
    9. T. Rex (guessing again.)
    10. Beatles, “The End” and again the picture eludes me.
    11. Bob Dylan, “Highway 61,” #19.
    12. Jimi Hendrix.
    13. ??
    14. Pavement, “Fame Throwa,” #8.
    15. ??
    16. The Smiths.
    17. Sonic Youth, “Kool Thing,” #15.
    18. ??
    19. Men At Work, “Be Good Johnny,” #13.
    20. Neil Young, “Southern Man,” #16.

Based on the two “The End”s and “Be Good Johnny”/”Johnny B. Goode,” there seems to be some kind of deeper structure to the choice of songs. I suspect if I could figure out the pattern I could probably get all twenty, but it’s beyond me.

  8. Cris

I can’t wait to find out what #4 is. I bet I’m going to kick myself.

Two final entries, in a desperate attempt to overtake Mr. Blandings. Neither would have been possible without the sufficiently-advanced-as-to-be-indistinguishable-from-magic Google Image search.

    14 – Pavement – Fame Throwa – 8
    16 – The Smiths – The Headmaster Ritual – 12

    1. Cris

Self-kick averted! Thank you for the hints.
      4 – Elvis Presley – Shake, Rattle, and Roll – 14
      5 – The Clash – Guns of Brixton – 2

  9. Ridnik Chrome

Song #2 = Money, by Pink Floyd, Cover #7
Song #6 = Castles Made of Sand by Jimi Hendrix, Cover #5
Song #7 = The End by the Doors, Cover #4
Song #8 = Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite by the Beatles, Cover #11
    Song #11 = Bob Dylan, Cover #19
Song #13 = Can’t You Hear Me Knocking by the Rolling Stones, Cover #20
Song #14 = Fame Throwa by Pavement, Cover #8
    Song #16 = the Smiths, Cover #12
Song #17 = Kool Thing by Sonic Youth, Cover #15
    Song #20 = Southern Man, Cover #16

    1. Ridnik Chrome

Mistake in my above comment! Song #20, Southern Man is by Neil Young, of course. Thought I had filled that in, didn’t notice the error until the comment was posting. Sorry!

  10. Jake

Song #2: Money – Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon, Album #7
Song #6: Casey Jones – The Greatful Dead, Album #9
Song #7: The End – The Doors, Album #4

Song #9 is driving me nuts, I know that song. Can’t fill in the rest without cheating, so here be my answers.

  11. Dr. Squid

#4 Shake Rattle and Roll – Elvis Presley – cover 14
#5 The Guns of Brixton – The Clash – cover 5
