While the $700B+ stimulus package Obama just signed is a hell of a lot of money, it would be roughly enough to fund the US military (including the Department of Defense and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan) for <em>twelve months<\/em> (though, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.org\/newsroom\/article.asp?id=1941\">if you really add it up<\/a>, even $700B wouldn't be enough). <\/p>\n<p>One year. We'll spend that much on the military this year. We spent that much last year, too. And the year before, and before that, too. etc.. And even then, our spending on the military is currently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heritage.org\/Research\/Features\/BudgetChartBook\/fed-rev-spend-2008-boc-S7-Despite-War-Costs-Defense.html\">low by historic standards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But anyone who complains about that is a hysterical pacifist lefty, of course.
