{"id":26059,"date":"2017-05-24T08:24:42","date_gmt":"2017-05-24T12:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ok-cleek.com\/blogs\/?p=26059"},"modified":"2017-05-24T08:24:42","modified_gmt":"2017-05-24T12:24:42","slug":"gop-ringless-voicemail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ok-cleek.com\/blogs\/?p=26059","title":{"rendered":"GOP: Ringless Voicemail!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This sounds great.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.recode.net\/2017\/5\/23\/15681158\/political-campaign-robocall-ringless-voicemail-without-ringing-cellphone-republican\">The GOP\u2019s leading campaign and fundraising arm<\/a>, the Republican National Committee, has quietly thrown its support behind a proposal at the Federal Communications Commission that would pave the way for marketers to auto-dial consumers\u2019 cellphones and leave them prerecorded voicemail messages \u2014 all without ever causing their devices to ring.<\/p>\n<p>Under current federal law, telemarketers and others, like political groups, aren\u2019t allowed to launch robocall campaigns targeting cellphones unless they first obtain a consumer\u2019s written consent.<\/p>\n<p>But businesses stress that it\u2019s a different story when it comes to \u201cringless voicemail\u201d \u2014 because it technically doesn\u2019t qualify as a phone call in the first place. In their eyes, that means they shouldn\u2019t need a customer or voter\u2019s permission if they want to auto-dial mobile voicemail inboxes in bulk pre-made messages about a political candidate, product or cause.
