Named after the sensory cinema in Aldous Huxley\u2019s novel Brave New World, they helped invent the 1980s indie guitar sound. AllMusic (an American online music database) referred to the Feelies as &quot;heroes of the 1980s indie underground&quot;. Their sound has been described as &quot;noisy&quot; and &quot;droning&quot; avant-garde pop. One of their greatest influences was the Velvet Underground, closing their third album, Only Life, with a cover of the band&#039;s song &quot;What Goes On&quot;. &quot;The Boy With the Perpetual Nervousness&quot; is the restless opening track on The Feelies debut 1980 album, Crazy Rhythms. Written by Glenn Mercer and Bill Million, it defines the band&#039;s jittery, jangle-pop post-punk style with fast-paced percussion and anxious guitar work.
