Even if it's not directed at me.<\/p>\n<p>So, a bit of the old Prufrock, dressed in the clothes of a political hack:<\/p>\n<p>Let us go then, go and lie,<br \/>\nTo the people; the press supine with tight shut eyes<br \/>\nLike a patient etherized upon a table;<br \/>\nLet us go, with fatuous half-truths and deceits<br \/>\nThe fact-checkers in retreat.<br \/>\nThrough the ballrooms and lobbies of Washington hotels<br \/>\nAnd dim-lit restaurants with oyster-shells:<br \/>\nNo one challenges our tedious arguments,<br \/>\nOur cynical intent.<br \/>\nNobody asks a probing question\u2026.<br \/>\nOh, do not ask, \u201cThat\u2019s not true, is it?\u201d<br \/>\nLet us go and make our visit.<\/p>\n<p>In the green room the interns come and go<br \/>\nTalking of Marco Rubio.<\/p>\n<p>etc., in your imagination<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I can never resist a parody poem challenge.
