Unthinkable! What a totally unfair accusation!<\/p>\n<p>How could anyone say a party which routinely uses <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%22war+on+christmas%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a\">bogus<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/journalism.nyu.edu\/pubzone\/weblogs\/pressthink\/2008\/09\/03\/mccain_strategy.html\">\"culture war\" issues<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=123859296\">keep the rabble roused<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/11\/04\/politics\/campaign\/04gay.html\">turning out during elections<\/a> would ever <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fivethirtyeight.com\/2009\/03\/hoping-he-fails.html\">take<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/01\/20\/limbaugh-obama-fail\/\">advantage<\/a> of the tendency for people to vote against the President's party during times of economic downturn ?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clearly Yglesias is right that a party which is currently enjoying an energized base thanks to an ever-more-violent, and self-created, storm of nativist bigotry and religious hatred would never stoop so low as to play games with the economy for electoral advantage.
